At the Jan. 26, Howe City Council meeting, HVFD Chief Mary Jones presented the Fire Fighter of the Year award to Michal Rivard.
The council tabled actions from the public hearing items to obtain more information after questions were raised in the Planning & Zoning Commission the night before. (Jack Leavenworth abstained from the vote and has filed a Conflict of Interest affidavit with the mayor. )
Following a lengthy closed session on a personnel matter, the council tabled the appeal of disciplinary action/termination – Code Compliance/Public Works Director
City Administrator, Joe Shephard, discussed the following:
Bond funds have been moved from TexStar to Independent Bank, Howe, Texas to obtain a higher
interest. The current rate at Independent Bank paid $23 per day interest for 14 days.  During the same time, TexStar would have paid $7.16 per day.
As required by law, reporting on investments will be done on a quarterly basis.
Shephard also reported on property and liability insurance: after reviewing buildings, equipment, etc, he said the city is probably over insured and will be working with TML to get this resolved.
Update on Bledsoe and David Streets:  Jack Bolin of Bolin Construction agrees the end result of the chip and seal is not the best. The gravel will be swept  and it will be determined what to do from there.
